Oakfield Gardens Crematorium
A tranquil, dignified, and respectful space
Oakfield Gardens Crematorium is designed to provide a tranquil and open space with a range of memorial options that make the most of the open landscaping and setting within the Bedfordshire countryside. We place the experience of bereaved families at the heart of everything that we do and provide options that reflect the choices that local communities are seeking. We understand that services are deeply personal and we aim to help families achieve the service that they want for their loved ones.
The site sits to the north of Flitwick in the Parish of Steppingley, situated between the A6 and the M1. A short walk from Flitwick and a walk, cycle or taxi ride from Flitwick Train Station. The site is designed with the landscape in mind, with views out to neighbouring fields and countryside. The views from the service hall use tree-lined avenues over a water feature that extends into the distance to represent the journey through grief.
The service hall
The service hall can comfortably seat up to 120 mourners with additional standing room in the lobby and outside. Options are available for music to be played and visual tributes to be shown during the service. A hearing loop is available.
We recognise that not all families will want a full service, so whilst we offer full services of 45 minutes so that mourners do not feel rushed, we also provide direct cremations and shorter 20-minute attended services for those who would prefer.
After the service
Once the service has concluded we have a covered floral tribute area. Remote access can be provided for anyone unable to attend in person and recordings can be produced afterwards for families to keep.
We offer a range of products for memorialisation including dedications of trees and plaques in our formal memorial garden. There are also options for other plaque dedications and books of remembrance. The relaxing garden provides the opportunity to reflect in calm surroundings whilst encouraging biodiversity and wildlife.
