Useful Information
Crematorium services at Oakfield Gardens
Online booking portal is available for funeral arrangers to see the diary and book services 24/7. For an account please click here.
Early morning services are available at 9am and 9:30am and allow for a service of up to 20 minutes including the time taken for mourners to enter and exit the service hall.
Full services are available on the hour from 10am to 4pm (3pm Fridays) and allow for a service of up to 45 minutes including the time taken for mourners to enter and exit the service hall. Should a family expect a large attendance or wish to have more flexibility with music and tribute options, we recommend extending the service. This adds an additional 45 minutes.
Direct cremations with no attendance at all can be accommodated at the crematorium. The time for the arrival of the coffin is agreed mutually with the funeral arranger a couple of days before the cremation.
Witness charging of a coffin. We have a specially designed room, just off the service hall where up to 12 mourners may witness the charging of the coffin into the cremator. This service must be booked with the crematorium in advance and the time taken for the witness charge must be included within the 45 minutes allotted for the service.
Overrunning services where caused by unnecessary delays or excessive content will incur an additional charge. This will be advised to the funeral director during the service and followed up via an email to the funeral arranger. To avoid services overrunning the funeral arranger should work with the family and the person leading the service to minimise this risk or offer an extended service time at the time of the arrangement meeting.
Our Audio/Visual partner is Obitus. All music and service enhancements are ordered by the funeral arranger via the Obitus website.
Dogs are permitted in the service hall in certain circumstances such as where a dog was the companion of the deceased. The crematorium will need to be notified in advance and reserve the right to refuse admission. Families are responsible for clearing up any mess and can be charged for professional cleaning if it is required. Assistance dogs, such as guide dogs are permitted without prior notice.
Infants, children and people with certain disabilities sometimes need to leave the service hall before the end of a service. Where a parent/carer feels the need to leave it is usually possible to show the service on a screen in another part of the building. The attendant will be on hand to accommodate this where possible.
Candles and incense burning is not permitted in the servcie hall for safety reasons and to avoid smells which could affect the next service.
Staff facilities. There is a cold water dispenser in the public waiting room next to the service hall and bearers may wait in the green room during a service. The green room has some comfortable seating and a screen to watch the progress of the service. There is also a WC off this room. Funeral operatives are not permitted to smoke/vape whilst on site.
Floral tributes, Other than a handful of freshly cut flowers are not cremated with the coffin. Funeral arrangers are asked to make this clear to families before the day of the service.
